My IB Psychology class has finally completed our Internal Assessments for Psychology and it feels as though a weight has been lifted over my shoulders. The IA for IB Psychology is weighted as 20%, so it's extremely important that you do it to the best of your ability. Now that my IA is finished, here are a few tips and tricks on writing a Psychology IA.

Firstly, I would seriously recommend looking up the IA rubric before, during, and after completing your first IA draft. It is really important that you understand exactly what has to be included in your IA such as what type statistics you must use depending on if you are a HL or SL student, or even something as simple as what to include on a coverpage or bibliography. It is easy to skip past these minor details they're crucial to receiving a good score.

Secondly, I would suggest starting your IA as soon as possible. Luckily, my class completed our first drafts of our introductions by the beginning of Y2 of the IB, and from the introduction we were easily able to complete our IAs way before the deadline. I would also recommend creating a few individual deadlines for yourself such as "March 4, finish Intro; April 1, finish Method". Time flies really quickly when doing the IB, so doing little things like this can really help you keep track of your time.

Lastly, what really helped me during writing my IA was using some online sources to guide me. There are lots of resources online and in textbooks that can help you, whether that be sample IAs, how to write certain parts, or even how to structure your IA's layout. Included below are some websites that I used which really helped my writing.

Finally, good luck with writing your IA! The hard work and countless redrafts will be worth it in the end.
